Baby Won’t You Please Come Home

Synopsis: Pearl Simmons (Michelle Hurst, ‘Orange is the New Black’), an aging jazz singer in brownstone Brooklyn, fights the early stages of Alzheimer’s. While she presents a strong front to her daughter Cynthia (Melanie Nicholls-King, ‘The Wire’), her sense of place and time begin to slip, and her memories of her days as a jazz singer in 1970s New York clash with the present. Cynthia, struggling to care for her mother, considers an offer to sell the family’s home.

Synopsis: BEING GOOD is about a teenage girl called Embry and her two guardians, the angel Ava and the demon Mal who act as her conscience. While Ava and Mal could easily be considered as “good” and “evil”, the film develops the idea of their humanity and flaws. Being Good is intended to highlight the importance of free will and identity.

The Peculiar Abilities of Mr Mahler

Synopsis: East Germany, 1987: The special investigator Mahler is said to have paranormal abilities. The police assigns him to solve the case of the 6-year-old Henry Kiefer, who is missing for weeks now, before this issue leads to political tensions with the West. But then he brings something to light that makes this family tragedy especially political.
Traffic Opera

Synopsis: When a tractor trailer stalls in a busy intersection, road rage erupts into violence. The occupants of the trapped vehicles must quickly work together to defuse the situation, all while singing opera.
